Doing some research and came across this disturbing news that I apparently missed in 2004:

In 2004, after 43 years of dating, Barbie and Ken split. Coming on the heels of big celebrity break-ups like Ben Affleck and J-Lo, the news made headlines around the world.
Even imaginary relationships cannot stay together. "Happily ever after" is apparently a thing of the past.

Yesterday, Barbie hinted that something might be in the works on her Facebook page with the status update: “Who knows…maybe I’ll have a Valentine this year.” Early this morning, Barbie changed her status on Facebook to “In a Relationship.”
