Just Another Monday

Look who I saw on the way to physio this morning.  He (she??) was on the corner, about to walk up my street.  Good thing Lily was not outside at that time - we had been out for the better part of the morning.  She would have been Dog who Runs with Foxes.  (My book club would have gotten that last statement).
Then home to watch the biggest derby of the year...Man U v Man City.  If Man U won, they almost eliminated Man City from winning the Premiership.  If Man City won, they are strongly in the running for the title.  (Unfortunately) Manchester City won.  Only two more games to go to find the outcome.

Dinner

Here is the missing photo.  Thrina and Terry relaxing on the couch.  I was invited for dinner.  Thrina arrived just that afternoon from the Island.  We had a big King Crab feast.  It was good food, good company and a good evening.  Thanks for the invite Terry!

At the Lake

Blogger seems to have updated their site and I am not yet familiar with it.  Consequently I have lost one of the photos which I will add to the next entry.  But, having said that, last night I dined at Lake Laberge.  I just love Terry's house.  The views are so calming.  The snow and ice are beginning to disappear.  The photo above is sunset (9:30 PM ish) from Deep Creek looking onto the lake.

The photo above is looking up the creek.  All this from the windows of her house.  Fabulous.

Driving home at 10PM took this shot to show you what 10:00 PM looks like now.  Love the light.  Here come's summer!

It is RAINING at this moment.  Not snowing.  Our first rainfall (and it sure is falling) this year.  (Tomorrow I take off my snow tires).

A Gift Suggestion

Want to give someone a MacBook Pro or new iPad as a gift but can't afford it? Below is an option for you - much more affordable:

Unboxing a new MacBook — or indeed any new Apple product — is a pretty exciting experience that most of us only get to enjoy once every few years. But thanks to a team of artists from Melbourne, Australia, you can enjoy the scent of a brand new MacBook Pro every day.

Gavin Bell, Jarrah de Kuijer, and Simon McGlinn have teamed up with Air Aroma to create a new perfume that smells just like a new MacBook Pro.

May he RIP

I am shocked and saddened. A for the second time in about a month, a professional soccer player has collapsed on the field during a game with heart failure. Yesterday Italian footballer, 25 year old Piermario Morosini has died after suffering a cardiac arrest during an Italian second division game at Pescara. On March 17, Fabrice Muamba (English Premier League player) too fell to the ground with no one near him and doctors later said he had been "in effect dead" for 78 minutes while his heart did not beat on its own. He was revived and has gone on to make extraordinary progress in hospital. He is 24 years old.
The Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), which confirmed Morosini had suffered a cardiac arrest, announced in a statement that all other sporting events taking place this weekend would hold a minute's silence, as has the Manchester United v Aston Villa game I am watching right now.

Mint Chip

Not only in the Cent becoming extinct, so is the remainder of the money in your wallet.

Best Course Ever

Art of Wine Tasting was the name of the course. It was offered by the City and hosted by the President of the Opimian Society - Yukon Branch. On entering the room, we sat at a table in front of 4 glasses of wine - 2 white, 2 red. After (learning the art of..) testing and rating each of these wines, we then moved to pairing wine with food and plated 8 hors d'hoeuvres including Cajun Halibut with Lime Chili Mayo, Potato Crosini with Goat Cheese and Proscuitto and Bacon Wrapped Top Sirloin with chipotle BBQ Dip along with a glass of Cornelana Estate Malbec from Chile to sip with the food. Superb. To finish off the course was desert which included Ricotta Pancakes with Amarula Cream, Pear Puff Tarts and Nut, Cheese and Fruit Bites served with Cava Parxet from Spain. And to top it off, it was Debbie's birthday and I'm sure she couldn't ask for a better ending to the day than this. As well, half of Book Club was taking the course, so it will be interesting to attend the next book club meeting.
A thoroughly enjoyable course from beginning to end.

Easter Dinner

Easter Dinner was on Monday this year. Lily brought her friend Bean along as well - why didn't I take a picture of Bean??? It was the feast before the famine as the next day is Day One of my diet - and I'm sticking to it this time - although I just discovered that on Friday I have already signed up for a Wine Tasting Course which will be off my diet, but other than that ...

Canada m23 fall short of Olympic dream

I am sad to have to report the following:

Canada left it all on the pitch, playing its heart out in a semi-final loss at the 2012 CONCACAF Men's Olympic Qualifying tournament in Kansas City, KS. Canada scored once, but conceded three in a loss that eliminated Canada from both the competition and a shot at the London 2012 Men's Olympic Football Tournament. The Canadian team had been undefeated in three previous matches before falling to the older Mexican team.
