Our Summer

Was on the Old Alaska Highway today just after a quick summer shower.  This is what the entire highway was like when I first moved north.  At sharp curves there would be a sign that said "Bad Corner".  I always thought that was funny.  We have had a couple of days of beautiful warm weather with sunny skies.  Those were the days I worked painting the deck and porch and planting out the flowers.  And that was it so far.  Nice when the sun comes out.  A bit on the cool side when the wind blows or the clouds come.  Well, nothing you can do about the weather, I guess.

The Weekend

The little ones slept overnight on Friday AND Saturday.  The first thing Emer goes for are his small cars.  And the first thing he does is lines them up in neat neat rows.
Of course Alanna is interested also, after she dons her Princess clothes, always including tiara.

No matter where the cars are - on the floor or on the couch, they are lined up.

Alanna ADORES her princess slippers.  I asked if I could take a photo of her slippers and she posed with one foot slightly in from of the other.  She see nothing but beauty in shoes like these.

Of course, they are a bit large for her, but she doesn't notice.

Still the Birthday

I didn't take many photos, just a few videos of the birthday, but I did catch this one.  Emerson is so interested in finding out how to put the batteries in his new remote control car.  He is starting to hang with dad these days and finding out how to use screw drivers, fill holes in walls, sand to smooth etc.

Happy Birthday

In the meantime ... two little people turned 4 YEARS OLD!!  As it was a Saturday, we didn't have a family birthday and a friends party but had it all on the same day ... June 16th.  Following are some birthday videos.

Opening gifts.

And the Birthday Song.

Back on-blog Again

Had a time with my computer.  My MacBook Pro wouldn't boot up.  I took it to the one and only Apple store in the Yukon.  They tested it and said something was wrong so I had to get their techs to look at it.  That was on June 9th.  Finally, I got to the front of the line, they check it out and said I needed a new video card, but because my MacBook was purchased in 2012, they didn't make that video card anymore so I had to throw out the complete computer!  That result came on the 20th of June.  At this point in time, I was without a computer for 12 days.  So, I bought a new MacBook Air.  I wanted them to transfer all the data from my old computer to the new one and set up the three programs I purchased as well.  Sure, they could do that but not on the 21st as it was Aboriginal Day, not on the 22nd as it was a Friday and they wanted a long weekend.  Not on the 23 or 24th as that was a weekend and not on the 25th as at a meeting they decided to take an extra day off.  So I was now 4th in line (better than the 21st I was previously) to get my computer set up.  Finally got my computer back on the 28th.  So, that is from the 9th to the 28th I have been at Apple's mercy.  But I am back on-line and trying to do some catch up.

The Wildlife City

I travelled to Skagway and back and throughout the town and narry saw wildlife (recently).  Today I did see an eagle on a lamppost.  SR saw two grizzly bears and a moose with calf within about 3 kilometres of his house.  I should start riding with him!  Below is his video of the moose.  Enlarge to see well and excuse the language ... I had no control over that.

I've got the kids anxious to go garage sale-ing.  The only reason I go is to purchase age appropriate toys and games to keep at my house.  The only reason they get excited to go is to buy toys toys toys.  SR told us about this one at the church off the Alaska Highway.  He saw it on the way to work, so we hopped in the car and drove to see what we could see.  When we got close, Alanna became very excited about seeing a horse.  Emerson & I didn't see one.  When we drove into the parking lot, I saw a horse trailer.  Yes, there was a horse there, ready to take little ones on a bit of a ride.  Alanna was ecstatic!  So, the first ride went to her.  She was so happy.  By the time Emerson could mount the horse, he felt a bit shy and decided not to ride this time.  Perhaps next time, Emerson.

This fund raiser was also selling cup cakes.  Emerson picked the green iced one and Alanna picked (of course) the pink iced one.  So far, this was one of the best sale they have ever been to.
