Thanks!

Hey, thanks for all the comments. It lets me see that someone really IS reading my blog!
Here is a shot of part of the kitchen (which has an opening in the wall through to the lving room) and living room. There is one bedroom on each side of the living room AND in-suite laundry.  Posted by Picasa
Just returned from a whirlwind 3 day stay in Edmonton, apartment hunting. Finally, after much running around, phoning, emailing, and mega stress, we bought an apartment in this development, called Point III. It is in the much desired Oliver area of Edmonton and we now own a 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment condo! - close to college, university, shopping and parks! Do I sound like a realtor??? This will be "home" for Shaun during the next 2 years of schooling in Edmonton. Posted by Picasa

I said I wanted to downsize, and finally found a house I could afford. I can even grown my vegetables on the roof. Posted by Picasa
And finally, we made it to Fort Selkirt, which is a heritage site. It is one of the oldest settlements in the Yukon and pre-dates the Gold Rush. This settlement was vacated in 1950. Posted by Picasa

HOUSE FOR SALE. Posted by Picasa

With the summer off, you'd think that I would be taking full advantage of it - gardening, golfing, reading ... wrong! I'm preparing my house for sale and house hunting. Working harder than I have in years. Found a perfect house except for one small thing, the roof leaked. Actually it was the roof on the three-season addition he built, but since I would still be paying for that in his selling price, I wanted it fixed as a condition of sale. Being a seller's market, I was advised the house was "as is" so consequently am still house hunting. The prices have sky-rocketed on housing - good for me selling, not good for me buying, so if you know of a nice small house to buy, let me know.

Am off to Edmonton with SR next week-end. With the difference between selling and buying (downsizing) I want to purchase an apartment in Edmonton, which will see SR through at least the next two years in University. The only problem is, I haven't sold, so am a bit stressed about that ... so if you know of anyone that wants to buy country residential, tell them to see me.

Now with all that going on, I took a day off yesterday and went down the Pelly River to Fort Selkirk. This was a freebe for government workers so we took full advantage of it. Fort Selkirk is a meeting place for two major river systems, the Yukon and the Pelly and a gathering place for many years. Heard that it was considered for the capital of the Yukon before the road system came to the north. Some pictures will follow. The day was beautiful, sunny and warm. It did threaten showers at one point but that cleared quickly. The boats left from Pelly Farm - and the road to Pelly farm was something else in a mini-van - 51 km's took over an hour - but aside from that it was relaxing (something I desperately needed) and fun.

Sunday now, and back to fixing up the house. One last thing to do, then I am ready to show and hopefully a sale will follow soon. Keep you fingers crossed.

This is Frank & Anne's house - Muktuk Kennels in case you wish to look it up on the internet. Frank has about 100 dogs (just had 5 new puppies today - they are soooo cute and I want one), has a dog sledding business and lives on the banks of the Takhini River. The setting is fabulous. The big news is this year his son has entered the Yukon Quest Sled Dog Race which runs in February, so you can follow his progress on the web also under www.yukonquest.com This is the website for their home business: http://www.muktuk.com/ Posted by Picasa
Here we are at the dinner table. Cabbage rolls tonight, courtesy of Uncle Andy. Here we have Anne (Frank's partner), Uncle Andy, Frank, Aunt Peggy, me, and Saul (Frank's son). Fabienne - hope I spelled her name right - (Saul's partner) is taking the picture. Posted by Picasa
Had dinner at Cousin Frank's tonight. His mom and dad were in town (Uncle Andy and Aunt Peggy). Here's a quick pic of them. She is 88 or 89 years old. He is 80+. They currently live in Victoria. I think they look great! Posted by Picasa

SR, Tara & I spent one night together in downtown Vancouver, then I went off in search of my old CP Air buddies while they stayed in downtown Vancouver. Here is Linda and Bev. We had a great time catching up and reminiscing. Posted by Picasa
There are so many great wedding pictures, but I must stop at some point. Everyone looked so beautiful, the weather cooperated, the venue was out of this world....SR & Tara looked spectacular all dressed up, the reception was fun (Kristi made her own wedding cake and the best lasagna I've ever tasted) and there were even fireworks..... we left the peninsula the next day and headed for Vancouver. On the way we stopped in at Uncle Paul's store - Spin Cycles, so if you are in Gibsons and need a bicycle or bike part, this is where to go. And here is the Smart Car - now you can see it with no one standing in front of it. Posted by Picasa
This is during the wedding ceremony. Kristi's sister is holding her 3rd child Meghan and is expecting her 4th in 2 months time. Behind her is her step-sister Carmen, then an old friend from cottage days. The JP stands between the bride and groom. Posted by Picasa

We scoped out the site of the wedding. Here it is - the most beautiful scenery you could ever find. This is Brad's dad's house right on the ocean. Wedding pics coming up next. Posted by Picasa
I failed to mention below that we were on our way to Kristi's wedding - you remember my good friend Andrea - well, that is her daughter who is now living in Roberts Creek - as is Uncle Paul. Paul and Tricia were kind enough to open up their house to us during our stay in Roberts Creek. Here is a picture of Paul, Tricia, Tara and SR in front of Tricia's new Smart Car! It is so cute - too bad four people cover the whole car! Posted by Picasa
June 30th, SR & I flew down to Vancouver. We met Tara there, rented a car and drove to the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal to hop a ferry to Gibsons. Little did we know that the newly refurbished BC ferry lost power as it was entering the terminal and ran over about 20 smaller boats that were moored in the harbour. Divers went down assess the damage (and I'm sure to ensure there were no bodies down there) and all ferry traffic was halted. You probably heard about this in the news. So, there we were, the first time in about 15 years that we're travelling to the Sechelt peninsula and stuck at the ferry terminal for hours on the beginning of the long week end. This is a picture of the stuck ferry and it is difficult to see, but there are a number of smaller boats half way under it. Luckily no one was hurt. Posted by Picasa
