It's Summer

You haven't seen me for a while. IT'S SUMMER. I am taking full advantage of the warm weather while it lasts. And now taking advantage of the daylight hours. Sun still shines at 10PM. Love it, love it, love it.

My niece arrived today from Ontario via YVR. Welcome to the Yukon (again) Kristin! So, had a dinner so she could meet the locals, ie SR & Brooke (and Lily). She came looking for work and has a wee job tomorrow, so prospects are looking good. Hopefully long-range work will soon develop and she will make bundles of money to put herself through another year of university.

And Will, I know it was a long time since you gave me the pirate plate for Christmas but I was sure you would have remembered it. Here is a photo of the plate (which I used to serve the bread on tonight by the way) and you also gave me pirate gloves (which I still wear in the winter). I just love that Jack Sparrow and can't wait to see the new movie!

My view from the kitchen this morning ... the date is M A Y 11th!
I have just spent 5 days in the yard spring cleaning. Painted my deck and wee porch. Raked. Cut down dead fall. Bagged 11 extra large compost bags and had them removed yesterday. Filled up the propane bottle so I could always be assured of a barbque flame. Ready to plant vegetable seeds in the garden. Ready for my first day on the links on Thursday. All ready for summer, then I awake to this.
I did worry that those geese I heard honking while flying in their 'V' formation overhead while I was spring cleaning would think that fall had arrived and turn around and head south again. I hope this is short lived.
Forgot to show you how special my special gift is.

In case you couldn't see it, I have enlarged the 'special' part ...

Birthday continued

Arrived home to two more wonderful gifts ... landmark birthdays are the best. Not only because I am still alive to experience them -- something that never ceases to amaze me considering how I lived parts of my life -- but now I get more and more discounts wherever I go. Love those senior deals.

The first gift I received on arrival (literally) was my new iPad2 ... I always loved (and still do) my little iPod Touch, which I carry around everywhere I go. Now I have a larger version of that which can do more than my little iPod. Another learning curve for me - apparently good for my ol' brain and I love it, love it, love it.

This iPad comes complete with a multi-use cover. It not only covers the screen, puts the iPad to sleep when closed and automatically wakens it when open, but folds back into two difference iPad stands. And it is pretty in pink too.

My 2nd gift I picked up in the mail the next day. A gift certificate to a local spa. Oh, how I need to be pampered. So, decided that as it is spring, and I have at least a good week's work (or two) cleaning up the yard and rock garden and planting my garden, I will certainly be ready for my manicure and why not throw in a pedicure and possibly a facial. They will have their work cut out for them after I complete all that outside work. Can't wait.
