Up to Date

Just to keep you up to date, we had a small snow fall last night which actually has stayed on the ground ... about 1 cm.  So we may have snow for Hallowe'en after all.
This is the warmest October I have seen yet in all the years I have lived in the north.  I know I shouldn't say this with Global Warming and all, but I love it!

Soccer Season Begins

Here we go.  First week of soccer.  This is the first get together and the kids are given their TimBits Jerseys.  This year Alanna and Emerson are on different teams ... I say teams but I don't know yet if they will actually play a game or just have practice stations like last year.

Ol' Gramma is there to support the little ones.

As is Dad.  (I think Alanna's favourite part so far is drinking from the water bottle).

Happy Birthday SR

It's BIRTHDAY time again.  Above is Alanna with her favourite,  Dad.

There comes a time when blowing out the candles is no longer the birthday boy's job.  He now has "people" to do it for him.

And we have to watch out for the icing thief.  (I think he inherited that from me as my favourite food group is CAKE.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SR.  So glad you could return home from camp to celebrate with family.

October 4

Home again and supped with the little ones tonight.  We first did a Craft (remember, Daddy's birthday is next week) then ate a delicious supper of chicken strips.
This was also the day they had a hair-cut with Aunty Bumper.  I asked them to sit nicely so I could take a picture of them with their new "do" but then I remembered they were 4 years old and this is what I got.  In the first photo, Emer has a head massager on his head.  We all like it as it give us goose bumps when we move it up and down.

Silly.

Silly

And what a hoot.

Brock University

Also went to visit William at his university residence in St. Catherines.  Even did some shopping in the University book store.

ELTON JOHN's Farewell Tour

Another highlight of my visit was making our way to downtown Toronto to attend the farewell tour of Elton John.  So exciting!!!!!
I was first treated to a wonderful dinner thanks to my sisters and their husbands.  We then made our way to the Scotia Centre to attend the concert.

Although partially covered, the purple writing says "farewell".

He played for three solid hours ... no breaks, no intermission.  All this at 71 years old.

This photo is for Teri and Tex who went to the washroom and missed the smoke.

Elton Hercules John

He sat at and played piano the whole time.

Then the gold dust fell from the ceiling.

Thanks Elton.  A spectacular concert.

Thanks sisters.  Without you I would have missed this magical night.

And Last but not Least ... Hungarian Day #5

I have to give a page to Mom, as she is 95 years old in October and partied with us the whole day.

Above is Ava and Mom.

Mom, Lisa, Kate

Mom and Kayla

And, as if the day was not beautiful enough, we had a beautiful sunset to end the day.

Hungarian Day #4

And the party was inside as well.  Above is Joe, Sarah, Debbie.

Teri, who looks a bit surprised that we are taking her picture ... and Tex

My sisters Lisa and Debbie

Kate and John

And Will, who gives Hungarian Day a thumbs up!

Hungarian Day #3

The day was beautiful.  People were able to enjoy the celebrations outside.  Above is Kayla, Tex and Lisa.

Lots of places to site and / or gather.  Above is John and John.  (an easy section if you have trouble remembering names).

Barb & John relaxing.

Kate took advantage of the beautiful pool in the back yard.

Hungarian Day #2

Again, thanks to Kayla, our food is labelled.  It seems almost everyone but me either donated or cooked food for the occasion. All DELICIOUS!!  I will put out a request for the cake as once again, it is one of a kind and very Hungarian.

This section is people who had their photo taken by the Hungarian Flag.

Above, Scott and Kayla.  Below, Billy, Malon and Anne. (Great backdrop!)

And, Kayla and Will by our family tree, better known as "Our Family Donut".  If you want to know the origins of that name, you must attend Hungarian Day.

Hungarian Day #1

Ahhhh, Hungarian Day.  It took place at the end of September this year.  I made the trip to Ancaster to attend and decided that this year I would dress up Hungarian-ish.  Now, back in 2016 a huge soccer (or as they say football) competition called the Euro Cup took place in Europe.  It was televised and Hungary was dong very well, especially due to the great work of their Goalie Gábor Ferenc Király. Now he became a very well  known figure as he was 1.  the oldest player to play in the Euro cup and 2.  wearing not the typical soccer kit of the day but baggy grey sweatpants, scuffed at the knees, which he said brought him good luck.  He was quite the character.
One year mom went to Hungary and brought back a Hungarian soccer jersey for SR.  So, this year I borrowed it, paired it with grey sweatpants with sox pulled high up at the ankles, made a cardboard soccer ball and there I was ... Gábor Király.
(I also wore a name tag that said, Hello, My Name is ... and also told people that I was representing a famous soccer player, just in case they thought this was normal dress for Yukoners.)

Kayla composed this comparison (above).

Now I am attempting to have people dress up as Hungarians for our next celebration.  The only three for this year were Lisa, with the skirt Debbie bought in Hungary when she was 12 years old, me, and Ava sporting the famous Hungarian blouse, which was almost exactly the same as those worn by Merv & I during our Hippy days... (we loved loved loved the embroidery).
