The day of the Musical Ride. It was bring your own chairs to the event.
After an hour of Hank Carr and the Cannucks with a bit of the 4H Club, out came the RCMP on their beautiful black horses.
They did a lot of clover leafs and thread the needle kind of maneuvers which would have been better to watch from a height rather than at ground level but, oh well .
They did the "back of the old $50 bill".
And of course, there was the CHARGE. That was fun.
At the end they had about a dozen horses in the middle of the field for photos with dignitaries and the remainder of the riders took their horses right up to the crowds on all sides of the field so people could pet the horses and have their picture taken with them. And they stayed there long enough for everyone to have a chance to see and touch the horses at close range and to answer any questions people had. It was just as fun as I thought it would be. This was my first time seeing the Musical Ride and I would certainly go again.
