Well, you know how I was telling you about the Pineapple Express - that wonderfully warm wind sweeping over the Yukon bringing all that warm weather - well ... my road has not been ploughed yet this year. Yesterday I took my truck in to be repaired. SR drove me home in his 3/4 ton 4X4. HE got stuck on my road - broke through the snow, the snow pulled him into a bank, he backed up then was pulled into a bank at the back ... finally he was able to get onto some harder snow and was all right. He dropped me off then stopped at the corner house to pull out the small car that was high centred just reversing out of the driveway. Later that day I was talking to a neighbour who told me his father phoned the "snow line" last night. Something I didn't know - the City has a Snow Line. Apparently it is just a recording so I thought I would phone and request some snow clearing on my street as well (neighbour solidarity!!!). Apparently my street was "on the list"-- No guarantees, perhaps this weekend it would be done. Well, today is Saturday and at around 5:30 PM I heard noises outside. I went out to see (with fingers crossed) if it was snow clearing. Yes, there was a loader and it was clearing a snow bank from the front of this big truck. This is the truck that takes away the snow once the loader fills it up. Its wheels were spinning and spinning and spinning and he was not going anywhere. His truck slip across so he was blocking the entire road. While I was out there, the loader pulled up right beside him. The loader driver was saying something and the truck driver was YELLING at her. Big stuck trucks make for short tempers. So, I went in, got my camera and came back out for a photo op. The truck driver was now outside of his truck now shovelling away at the snow bank he slid into. I was going to use a flash for the photo then thought better of it. Didn't want to attract too much attention as this man was already angry enough.
So, hopefully my street will soon be drivable . That will be very nice.
